Training on How to Teach Swahili as a Second Language
As interest in Kiswahili grows worldwide, there is an ever-increasing need for qualified teachers who can make the language accessible to learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
If you are enthusiastic about Swahili and would like to teach it to people whose first language is not Swahili, our training course on teaching Swahili as a second language, in cooperation with the University of Eldoret in Kenya, will give teachers practical knowledge, teaching strategies, and hands-on experience so that they can deliver effective and engaging Swahili lessons.
About the Training
To teach a language is not merely a matter of knowing how to speak it. If teaching is to be effective, then one must understand how learners acquire a second language, how grammar and vocabulary should be presented, how communication skills should be developed, and how an engaging learning environment can be created.
The training combines knowledge of the Swahili language, modern teaching methods, practical classroom techniques, and cultural awareness.
People will be taught to plan and deliver lessons for beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners of Swahili.
Our approach focuses on learning by doing.
Participants will have the opportunity to draft lesson plans, prepare classroom activities, practice teaching, and receive constructive feedback. By taking part in micro-teaching sessions and carrying out practical exercises, they will be able to build the confidence needed to handle actual Swahili-language classrooms.
